Note that he now has a new shop and house on North Street, and he is also building and painting wagons.

Burlington Free Press 6 Apr 1895: Joseph Cartier, the blacksmith, is to erect a new shop 36 X 50 feet in dimensions, two stories, at 128 North Street. He expects to have the shop completed by June. His old shop will be moved to the rear for a storehouse.

Joseph died in 1897 and his son Joseph Patrick Cartier ran the shop until it was sold in 1905 and Joseph began working in the automobile business. He was changing with the times as auto's began replacing carriages and wagons. Some great examples of carriages and wagons are near his building.
